About Pods4Rail
In September 2023, 15 partners from seven European countries, launched the Pods4Rail research project, funded by the European Union, to develop new solutions for the mobility of the future. The starting point was the realisation that today’s mobility systems are highly fragmented and that, rather than optimising individual modes of transport in isolation, an integrated mobility system will be required in the future. Pods4Rail addresses precisely this issue and conceives of mobility as a seamless ‘One Journey’, enabled by supermodality – an approach that holistically reorganises the interaction between existing modes of transport.

The Event

During the event, we would like to provide information on the programme’s motivation, objectives and results achieved, and discuss key questions regarding the future design of mobility together with you.

Day 1 – 24 June 2026 – A modular model for sustainable mobility

  • Welcome
  • Presentation and discussion on the main topics
  • What is Pods4Rail?
  • What solutions does the supermodal scenario of Pods4Rail offer?
  • How does the modular pod concept complement existing mobility solutions?
  • Sustainable mobility on existing infrastructure – is that possible?
  • Dual use as an opportunity?

Day 2 – 25 June 2026 – Panel Discussion & Pitch Session

  • Panel Discussion
  • How can sustainable mobility be designed?
  • What challenges stand in the way of sustainable mobility?
  • Are new mobility scenarios feasible in the future?
  • Do modular pod systems offer new possibilities for mobility?
  • Open Pitch Session

Open Pitch Session We’re opening the floor to you.
Are you working on an innovation in mobility, rail, autonomous systems, or sustainable transport? We’re reserving time for short pitches from external participants — startups, researchers, or practitioners with an idea worth sharing.
To apply for a pitch slot, send us a brief description of your idea (max. 300 words) to dirk.winkler@siemens.com by 03.06.2026
.

Tell us:

  • What problem you’re addressing
  • Your proposed approach or concept
  • What stage you’re at (idea, research, prototype…)

Selected pitches will be given 5–7 minutes to present, followed by Q&A from the audience and project partners.

We would be delighted if You could join us! Please confirm your attendance or decline by 15 May 2026.
