In the July/August -2024 edition of the German publication ETR – Eisenbahntechnische Rundschau you can find an Article with the title: ” Neue Lösungen für den Verkehr von morgen” – “New solutions for the transportation of tomorrow”. An article written by Dipl.-Ing. Dirk Winkler and Dr. Walter Struckl from Siemens Mobility and Maria Traunmüller from moodley strategy & design group, presenting the project PODS4Rail.
Translated abstract: “As the most environmentally friendly mode of transport, the rail system will continue to play a leading role in the transport of people and goods in the future. In shaping future solutions, the concept of ‘Mobility as a Service’ plays a significant role, especially beyond the possibilities of new communication technologies and global digital networking, as travelers and logistics customers increasingly demand ‘door-to-door’ solutions. In particular, the reduction of individual road traffic and the further shift of freight transport from road to rail must be further advanced in intermodal ‘door-to-door’ transport, and new solution approaches must be sought”
